Battle of the Dorms

Description:
This was initially built (fast and crudely mind you) for an Ohio Christian University social media contest. The idea is when students share anything about campus, dorm or college life, they tag the post with a pre-defined #hashtag. Those shares are then counted weekly and the Leaderboard is updated.  Currently it’s very simple and plain but I released it on GitHub and will be extending it as a personal project. Currently we manually update the team’s count, then logic takes over, sorts and displays the leader from top-down. On the agenda are #hashtag search to MySQL integration and Different block styling for top leader.

Custom Roku Channel

Description:
My wife’s and sister-in-law’s family are spread all over Canada, United States and Argentina. I build the ‘Bocook Book‘  roku channel as a one stop shop family video/picture album. No matter where family is located, they are able to upload and view the latest happenings. Sure facebook could have worked fine but I wouldn’t have been able to experiment with the Roku Dev kit that way.
